Made true to the era, our Authentic 1878 Shaker Corn Broom is as historically accurate as you can come to the original Shaker flat-sewn design. These handmade brooms are meticulously hand-crafted the old way, using antique equipment from the late 19th century. We are proud to offer these durable brooms, and to carry on this tradition right here in our shop.
These brooms are made from 100% North American broom corn. Genuine American hardwood handle. The durable sweep is stitched flat by hand with three rows of waxed linen twine, Perfectly balanced in the hands -- functional and pleasing to the eye.
The overall length of the broom is 57". The sweep is 11" wide, with soft bristles, long, full, and flexible. Perfect for wood floors or porch -- a broom from yesterday, to last many years.

This broom is hanging outside my home...a bit of necessary decor if you will. I wanted a broom that I could use to sweep debris, snow, etc off my back ste. This one is pretty enough to hang right by the back door. It's nice and works great.

This broom is stunningly beautiful and sweeps so well! I’m a historian (and an artisan as well) and I can truly appreciate how historically accurate the materials and craftsmanship is on this broom- I actually own a broom from Shaker Village in Kentucky and yours is nicer. I have mostly Redecker and Iris Hantverk cleaning tools and this hangs among them looking just as lovely on the peg rack.
I didn’t realize how terrible my plastic modern brooms were until I held this for the first time. It is beautiful, and clearly made with love and attention to detail. It is also highly functional, sweeping my floors with ease. I have five animals, so lots of fur, and the fur used to stick to the plastic bristles of my old brooms. Not this one! It is both much prettier and works better than any broom I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend!

Oh my heavens. I was excited for this handmade broom, but I was not excited enough. The feel of the broom in my hand as well as how smooth the broom sweeps across the floor was enough to make me swoon. What put the cherry on top for me was the wonderful smell of the natural fibers wafting up to me as I swept. These are well worth the cost of purchase and shipping.

This Full Size Shaker Authentic 1878 Vintage Corn Broom is elegance and usefulness extraordinaire. The shape and length of the corn is stunning and it doesn't miss a grain of sand that's constantly tracked into my house. Sweeping is now one of my favorite activities. Seriously.
